NHTSA DSRC Rulemaking

DSRC NHTSA Comment Deadline

April 13, 2017 - Midnight marked the deadline for comments for the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration (NHTSA)'s proposed rule on mandating the DSRC technology standard, which uses 5.9 GHz spectrum, in all new cars after 2020. At issue is whether this band can be shared for unlicensed uses like Wi-Fi. As the expert agency in charge of spectrum, the FCC has been exploring the prospect of sharing since 2013 and is undertaking testing of a couple proposals. The proposed NHTSA rule could circumvent the FCC’s process.  Here, you'll find some assets to help reporting.
